I leaned against the doorway, watching the snow falling quietly down outside of the window. I sighed after watching the snow falling for a while. It was just another Christmas spent alone for me. I had no family that lived close by, and even if they did they most likely wouldn't come and visit. Stop it, Tommy. I told myself. You're just going to make yourself more depressed.. Just then my cell phone rang from across the room where it lay on a tiny coffee table. I crossed the room quickly and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Tommy.. it's Adam. Are you doing anything this year for Christmas?" Adam's velvety voice came over the cell phone.
Adam had known for the past couple of years how I spent my holidays alone, but had never asked why I didn't spend it with anyone.
"No.. why?"
"I was wondering.. my family can't make it this year because of the roads being in such a bad condition.. so I was wondering if you wanted to do something today or tomorrow, maybe?" Adam's voice was hesitant as he asked. I wondered if it was because he didn't really want to spend his holiday with me or what..
"Umm... Sure, Adam. That would be nice." I replied.
"Okay, I'll be over to your house in half an hour to pick you up. We can go over to a coffee shop or maybe just walk around downtown, if you would like," he asked.
Tonight was Christmas Eve, so the downtown area was bound to be quite busy with last minute shoppers and couples walking in the beautiful snowy landscape.
"Sounds good. I'll see you then," I finally replied. I hung up and went to pick out something to wear and to get ready for a night out on the town. For some reason I felt excited that Adam was taking me somewhere tonight..
--

After dressing in a casual outfit of skinny jeans and a black hoodie, styling my hair and applying some eye makeup, I was finally ready to go when Adam pulled up a half hour later. I slid smoothly into the front car seat next to him. We exchanged small smiles before Adam drove off in the direction of downtown. We were mainly silent throughout the short trip, only the occasional remark shattering the silence that seemed to create an awkward void between us. Finally, we arrived at a quaint coffee shop on the corner of the main street. Adam parked and we walked inside, Adam going first and holding the door open for me. There were only a few people inside, mainly couples that were quietly laughing over their coffee. Adam and I decided to order our coffee and then sit outside on one of the numerous benches that provided a view of the park that was covered in a glittering layer of snow. After both of us ordered and paid, we headed outside to an empty bench, me cupping my hands over my coffee cup and Adam sipping his latte. Adam brushed off the fine layer of snow that had gathered on the bench before sitting down and motioning me to do the same. The bench was not very large, so I was partially leaning against Adam as we sat together, both of us staring out at the frozen city, our thoughts far away. Finally, Adam broke the silence.
"Tommy?"
"Yes, Adam?"
"What would you do if I told you that I loved you?"
It took me a moment to process what he said.
"A-Adam? Do you seriously.. love me?"
We were now facing each other, our gazes locked on the others.
Adam nodded.
And then he motioned upwards, where mistletoe hung on the snow-covered lamppost above us.
I blushed as he pressed his lips against mine, gently. He pulled back and then just looked at me, his gaze soft.
"A-Adam?"
"Yes, Tommy?"
"What would you do if I told you that I loved you?"
Adam smiled and pulled me closer.
"I'd do this," he replied, planting another gentle kiss on my lips.
Just a cute little Adommy story I thought of today. ^^
